Greetings ~
Depot Hacks were open bodied truck type vehicles that were used to transport people and luggage from train stations to hotels, estates and other residences. They were the vehicles that would later on become what we know now as station wagons.
The ride was, in many cases, bumpy depending on the road conditions. And in fowl weather there was drop-down side curtains that could be deployed.
The body of the hack was mostly wood and was built by woodworkers, cabinet makers and carpenters on a Model T Ford truck frame. The body could be built in several styles, one being the depot hack. Another was an open style truck bed for hauling freight. Also this trucks were used in big cities by street vendors for selling produce and by local grocery stores for transporting goods and for deliveries.
This is a pretty cool model kit. It's the 1923 Ford Model T Depot Hack. This kit can be built one of two ways. As a hack or as a freight truck. I plan to build this one as the depot hack.
If you have gotten one of these kits and possibly, the instruction sheet is missing, maybe this blog can help you. Also, you may get a few tips. I'm 72 and have been building models in plastic, wood and metal since 1956.
So, without further ado, let's get moving on this thing...
